Mosquitoes indoors and in the yard are two different problems
The same product rarely works well both in a room and on a veranda.
Every spring, shoppers make the same mistake: they buy a single product and expect it to cover the entire season. Yet indoor and outdoor protection work in fundamentally different ways, and the products are not interchangeable.
In an enclosed room, protection comes from the accumulation of the active ingredient in the air. That is why an electric fumigator with a mat or liquid is a solution for the bedroom: it is designed for overnight use in a room with the window closed and gradually reaches an effective concentration throughout the space. Take it out onto the porch and the effect disappears, because there is no enclosed space in which to build up the concentration.
Outdoors, the task is different: to create a zone that pests find uncomfortable. Coils do this by burning for several hours and protecting a small area around them, such as a table on the porch, a seating area, or a gazebo. Wind is the main obstacle, so the coil is placed on the upwind side.
The third situation is protecting a person on the move. Neither a fumigator nor a coil will help; only repellent sprays applied to the skin and clothing will do the job.
The practical conclusion for retailers is that these three formats do not compete with one another, but complement each other. Shoppers who are given this explanation usually leave with three items rather than one — and come back satisfied.
