São Paulo: the Made in Russia business mission and the Hortitec exhibition
From June 16 to 19 we worked in Brazil — one of the world's most demanding agricultural markets.
From June 16 to 19, São Paulo became South America's agricultural capital for several days. The city hosted two major industry events at the same time: the international Made in Russia business mission, organised by the Russian Export Center, and Hortitec, an exhibition of greenhouse technologies and vegetable production.
Oboronhim Group took part in both. For the group, this was its first entry into a market rightly regarded as one of the most demanding in the world.
Why Brazil
Brazil's agro-industrial sector operates year-round, with high humidity and a climate that allows no half measures. Farms in central Russia have winter as a natural pause; the tropics do not. Pest pressure never subsides, and product storage periods are calculated differently. Requirements for protection products are inherently stricter under these conditions, which is precisely what makes the market of interest.
What the trip delivered
Most importantly, the trip provided a firsthand understanding of the region: how local farms operate, how distribution is organised, which packaging formats and pack sizes are customary, and what buyers consider first. It also provided direct contact with Brazilian businesses, distributors, and technical specialists — the people who make decisions rather than simply forwarding requests.
Interest in Russian developments at the event was focused and practical, opening up opportunities to include our products in imports to Latin American countries.
A first appearance in a market like this is recognition that Russian protection technologies can compete far beyond the country's borders. Work in this area continues.
